PERMA Pathways is not generic hypnotherapy.

Nor is it endless talking, self-help overload, or a quick fix.

Instead it is a structured, content-rich, guided process for people

who want to understand their patterns, practise new responses, and build

sustainable wellbeing.

Structured, not open-ended

The programme has a clear 10-session pathway, with each

stage building on the last.

Reflective, not passive

You are not simply receiving therapy. You are actively

participating in your own development.

Practical, not abstract

The ideas are there to be used in real life: in your habits,

choices, relationships, thinking, recovery, goals, and direction.

Pacing, not pressure

The programme contains depth, but you are not expected to

absorb everything at once. You take what is most useful now and return to other

parts later.

Hypnotherapy plus self-hypnosis

Trance is used as a practical tool to support calmer,

clearer, more resourceful states. You also learn self-hypnosis so the work can

continue beyond the sessions.

Wellbeing is more than feeling better

PERMA Pathways is based around the idea that wellbeing is a

platform from which you live.

The PERMA model gives us a practical way to explore that

platform. In this programme, we also include Health as an essential

foundation of sustainable wellbeing.

Positive Emotion

More calm, hope, appreciation, steadiness, and genuine

enjoyment in daily life. This does not mean pretending everything is positive. It

means learning how to create emotional conditions that help you respond with

more flexibility and choice.

Engagement

More presence, focus, absorption, and flow.

This includes spending less time trapped in anxious loops,

overthinking, or distraction — and more time engaged with the life in front of

you.

Relationships

More connection, clearer communication, healthier

boundaries, and greater presence with the people who matter. This includes your

relationship with others and your relationship with yourself.

Meaning

A stronger connection with what matters to you.

This helps you step back from autopilot and begin aligning

your choices with your values, direction, and sense of purpose.

Accomplishment

Realistic progress, confidence, follow-through, and evidence

that your actions matter.

This is not about chasing achievement for its own sake. It

is about choosing goals that strengthen your wellbeing.

Health

Sleep, recovery, energy, movement, regulation, and the

physical foundations of wellbeing.

Without health and recovery, even good intentions can become

harder to sustain.

PERMA Pathways uses these areas to help you build a

balanced, personal wellbeing platform — not a perfect life, but a stronger

foundation for living.

Ten sessions. A clear pathway. Space to integrate.

PERMA Pathways usually unfolds over 12–18 weeks.

The early sessions are often weekly, helping to build

understanding, regulation, and momentum. Later sessions may move to a

fortnightly rhythm, giving you more time to reflect, practise, and integrate

the work.

Each session usually includes:


  • a check-in on what you have noticed since the previous session


  • discussion of key ideas, patterns, or practical tools


  • review of workbook reflections or between-session work


  • trance or hypnosis


  • agreement on realistic next steps


The programme is structured, but it is not rigid. It is

paced around your life, your capacity, and what is most useful as the work

develops.

Sessions 1–2: Orientation, understanding, and regulation

Building the foundations: how your system responds under pressure, what helps

you regulate, and how change begins.

Sessions 3–4: Agency, thinking patterns, and useful

responses

Exploring how you move from reaction toward response, and how to work with

thoughts, beliefs, and behaviour more flexibly.

Sessions 5–6: Self-hypnosis, beliefs, values, and

identity

Developing tools for deeper integration and exploring what supports a more

aligned way of living.

Sessions 7–8: PERMA(H), goals, and future direction

Building your personal wellbeing platform and identifying goals that strengthen

rather than drain you.

Sessions 9–10: Integration, review, and next steps

Consolidating the work, reviewing progress, and clarifying how you will

continue developing your wellbeing platform beyond the programme.

PERMA Pathways is not for everyone at every stage.

A structured, content-rich programme may not be the best

first step if life currently feels too unstable or overwhelming.

It may not be right for you at this time if:

  • Anxiety or low mood is significantly affecting day-to-day functioning


  • You need intensive medical, psychiatric, or trauma-specialist support


  • Between-session reflection would feel overwhelming rather than useful


  • You are looking for someone else to do the work for you


  • You need a gentler, one-session-at-a-time approach first


That is not a failure

It is good pacing

Sometimes the first task is stabilisation: sleep, safety,

regulation, support, and a little more breathing room.

Structured wellbeing development can come later.
